Honoring two veterans
On Wednesday, the Eagan Rotary Noon Club and the Eagan Rotary Kick-Start Club and many guests met at the Lost Spur Golf Club to honor two local veterans during the annual veterans recognition lunch meeting. Corporal Al Jaeger served with the US Army 1944 - 1946 WWII in Italy. Captain Chuck Burin flew as a pilot with the Marine Corps 1963 - 1974 in Vietnam. Both spoke about their service and afterwards each received a plaque from Eagan Rotary and a check to his favorite charity. The Eagan Men's Chorus sang patriotic songs and Rotarian John Curlee closed the meeting by playing "Taps" on his trumpet.

Hero
My friend and fellow Rotarian, Jerri Neddermeyer, posed outside Artworks in Eagan by this military sculpture titled, "Hero." Jerri works as the Director of Operations at ArtWorks and was recently selected as Eagan Foundations's 2019 Extraordinary Board member.
HERO, by former Marine Corps corporal Gene Piersa, was inspired by an image on the cover of "American Legion Magazine," May 2007. It depicts a "Field Cross," which is a rifle with the bayonet stuck into the ground. A helmet sits on top of the rifle butt and dog tags hand down in front along with the boats of the fallen HERO.
HERO recognizes the incredible sacrifice made by our young men and women who lost their lives in all current wars and conflicts. It further acknowledges the grieving hearts of those families who must now live with this loss.
Finally, it speaks to our nation as a family about the loss of what potentially might have been: the best and brightest individuals of our future.
Currently, the "Journeys from Military Service" exhibit of art pieces created by former military persons can be viewed at Artworks in Eagan.

Grocery list
I went grocery shopping with a short list: granola, vitamin C, chicken tenders, pumpkin bread, Starbucks coffee, almond extract, Greek yogurt, granola bars, trail mix, broccoli, bananas and raspberries.
1. What's the name of your favorite, local grocery store?
2. How much would these groceries cost where you shop? (My bill was $54.24)

"do you see what i feel?"
My artist friend, Annie Young, not only paints but also inspires others with her ability to create beautiful works of art with special techniques and great creativity. Her colorful canvases joined others created by former and current military personnel in a new military themed art exhibition which opened on Sunday evening at Artworks in Eagan. Visit her website here and see her magnificent, vast collection of paintings.

Memory Monday
Mt Calvary Lutheran Church remembered their 10 departed saints during Sunday's "All Saints Day" worship service by lighting 10 large candles, one for each one. Parishioners also lit small candles and placed them in the two long sand-filled boxes.
A traditional hymn for this day:
For all the saints who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed;
Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
