Eagan residents gathered at the Eagan Community Center on Saturday evening, January 9 to celebrate the beginning of Eagan's 150th birthday year. Mayor Mike Maguire gave the opening celebratory speech. Scott Swenson, 150th birthday committee chairperson, also welcomed guests and spoke. Loud horns sounded, people ate cake, a quartet sang and everyone seemed to enjoy the opening event.

Is it true that as you were running around with your camera and as the cake disappeared, someone said, "Boy, Safe Leif takes the cake"?
I suppose that up there in the far north indoor events are important so that people don't freeze to death. I'm curious, though, about the long horns. Probably to awaken Minneeesotans out of their comatose winter slumber?
