Rainy night

 On Tuesday evening, the rain showered down on our Cedar Grove neighborhood. 

40 shades of brown

 The snow has almost completely melted. Now the browns exist until the greens and blooms arrive.

A new Monday

 The sun was rising over Thomas Lake this morning and much of the ice has disappeared. 

Wild turkey!

When I returned home one morning, this turkey was jumping up and picking the red fruit off my crab apple tree.

 Once again, Cathy Patterson Miller captured a beautiful bird on her walk in the woods. 

Erik pedals great bikes

 

The Bonfire Restaurant permanently closed its doors during the pandemic.  Erik reopened the doors with his new bike shop! Just in time for spring bikers.

 They were crossing the road with a big machine; I patiently waited on a warm, spring day. 

Eagan High School superstars

Extraordinary students were recognized at the Eagan Rotary Club's noon lunch meeting last Wednesday. Each student achieved a long list of exemplary academics, volunteerism, leadership, etc. Congratulations!

Walmart, yep

This big discount store exists also in Eagan. I wonder how many small businesses were put out of business.... 

Set for guests

 

French "Coq au vin" was enjoyed by four of us; vegan risotto delighted our two vegan guests on Saturday evening. Cheers! 

Which moon??

Friday's full moon is know as the "worm moon" but also other names such as "crow moon" or "crust moon" or even "sap moon." Who comes up with these names?

Grand opening!

 

Balloons outside and steel drum music inside welcomed new, eager customers to the brand-new Trader Joe's grocery store on Cliff Road.

Dianne Miller was sworn in as the new city administrator for Eagan at Tuesday evening's city council meeting. Congrats!

Garbage pick up

Yesterday's warmer temperatures provided a good opportunity to pick up garbage and a cardboard box along the neighborhood sidewalk.  But there's always more....

Big, heavy, wet flakes were falling as I drove to work today. But Wednesday will be warm! 

Hearty bread

 

My Facebook friend in Eagan, Cathy Patterson Miller, did some baking recently: a loaf of cranberry, wild rice bread! Yum!

Greenbacks for groceries

 

Buying food at the grocery store feels more and more expensive. This small lot cost me $90.37 at Hyvee. 

Almost $4 per gallon

Gasoline prices have spiked to $3.94 recently in Eagan. Putin's invasion of Ukraine is affecting the world besides the terrible, countless tragedies, destruction and killings in Ukraine. 

Blue and yellow light

Eagan's technology tower was lit up in blue and yellow recently as we think about the people of Ukraine and their war torn country. 

 

Cantabile Choir

Six choirs performed at Eastview High School's "Choral Showcase Concerts" on Monday night. My youngest daughter sings with this choir. Kids from Eagan and Apple Valley attend this school. 

Heavenly windows

 

After Sunday evening's Ukrainian dinner fundraiser, these stained glass windows in the Advent Methodist church sanctuary caught my admiration. 

Support for Ukraine

 

Jamie Hopkins, executive director of the Eagan Foundation, organized a Ukrainian dinner fundraiser for Sunday afternoon. Proceeds and donations will benefit Ukraine directly. Jamie worked in Ukraine for two years with the Peace Corps and she holds many close friendships in that war torn country.

The Christmas poinsettia seems to be watching the cold, wintery weather out the window. 

Restocked

Fun to shop for wines at the "Total Wine" shop. My $101.85 binge included yummies from France, South Africa and California. Cheers!

I counted 7 white tailed deer. It was 7 am along Thomas Lake Road.

A brand new Caribou coffee shop opened this past weekend up near the Minnesota Vikings training center.
