Remembering 9/11

 

American Legian members, Lion Club members, firefighters, police officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Eaganites and others gathered for Saturday's 9/11 20th anniversary ceremony at 5 pm at the Eagan Community Center's plaza.

The old, restored fire truck stands gleaming at the Eagan fire station 2. It was fun to see the uniforms, helmets, etc. 

Mike's sendoff

 

Many of the Eagan firefighters gathered around retiring Fire Chief Mike Scott at his party on Thursday afternoon. (His hand rests on the table.) Mike has served the City of Eagan for 35 years; Mike or someone from the Scott family has served on the fire department for the last 50 continuous years!

On Tuesday evening, 19 new, full-time firefighters were sworn in at one of the fire stations. And 18 of the new firefighters were funded through a Federal SAFER grant - one of the largest grants in the nation.

 The newest fire station stands at Diffley Road and Blackhawk Road. All was quiet on an early weekday morning in Eagan.

This fire truck was parked at Cub Foods grocery store. No flashing lights so I guess the firefighters were picking up some ice cream, milk and Oreos cookies?

Eagan firefighters protect us and do an amazing job as city volunteers! At the Service Officer Memorial at the Eagan Community Center, one can admire several statutes like this one.
