Take a tour....

Toll Brothers, Inc. built a new neighborhood in Eagan called "Steeplechase." To see their website, go here. This huge "Parade of Homes" house of 5,800 square feet at 1430 Wellington Way has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a 3 car garage and loads of executive amenities. It could be yours for just $1.4 million.

This, I assume, is a McMansion. It's hideous beyond words.

Es ist immer so dark wood in den Häusern. Das macht es immer so dunkel. Bei uns ist meistens helles Holz.

Here is the difference between a luxury home like this in Minnesota and where we live in Arizona. The high ceilings in this home are limited to only a few rooms, but not rooms where there is a second story above. In Scottsdale a new home in this price range would have cathedral ceilings or high ceilings throughout. Of course in Arizona we don't have to worry as much about heating all that air that rises towards the ceilings. Our big utility bills are in the summer, and we welcome the hot air rising.

I love to look at these homes.

When will homes like these cease to be built? I agree with jb...we no longer need nor can afford McMansions!

Nice looking house ! For that money I'd want some elbow room in the yard. looks like it's so close to the neighbors. Why don't developers build a little smaller homes and divide the divisions into bigger lots? Cost would even out in the end. But that's just me.

Looks beautiful, but I don't think I'd have enough furniture for it. :)

The living room looks like a castle! And oh, the pool table is to die for! *sigh*

I think the tiled wall behind the hearth is really interesting. I haven't seen a wall tiled like that unless it was in a bathroom.

I think if I were to spend $1.4 million on a home I would want either a historic home beautifully modernized or a Neutra/modernist style, but then, that's not for everyone.

I can no longer imagine having or needing or wanting more than one room.

I'm intrigued by the TWO pairs of ice skates in the bedroom! Are they a standard bedroom feature in Minnesota?
