Northwest Airlines headquartered previously in Eagan and this was their credit union. Delta Airlines merged with Northwest and now this institution has a newer name, "Wings Financial" Federal Credit Union. What architectural details do you notice?

Linda the bird watcher

While Eagan Television was interviewing me, suddenly up walked Linda, a retired elementary school teacher. She had just been hiking and bird-watching and she gracefully agreed to pose in front of this ol' barn along Highway 110 in Mendota Heights just north of Eagan.

We colored Easter eggs with our Brazilian guest, Mayra, on Saturday morning. She told us that they don't do that in Brazil.

Our Brazilian Rotary guest, Mayra Pereira Chagas, posed with the Easter Bunny while Meagan and Judy joined her. We toured Thomson Reuters and the Eagan television studio on Friday morning for Mayra's Rotary vocational visit.

Dining with Brazilians

Six Brazilians were our special guests at Wednesday evening's potluck dinner along with 30 others through the Eagan Rotary Club. White sweater clad Robson is the Rotary youth exchange student at Eagan High School this year and the 5 others are visiting Minnesota from Parana state in south Brazil for one month through the Rotary International "Group Study Exchange" program. All the Minnesota hot-dishes and other foods came out after the photo session.

Bob and his Harlequin Great Dane named "Brody" posed while out for a springtime walk.

Bright orange & yellow

It seemed odd to find this guy and his horse riding through a residential neighborhood. When I asked him why he was wearing BRIGHT orange & yellow, he answered, "Cuz I don't want to get hit by a car!"

Recognizing safety officers

Fire Chief Scott and Police Chief McDonald, both fellow Eagan Rotarians, present an award to an outstanding firefighter and police officer at the annual recognition event. Firefighter Chris joined the Eagan firefighters in 2009. Police Officer Brian started with his department in 1999.

Front door family

A sparrow built a nest in the Christmas wreath on our front door. One day, there were two eggs, the next day three eggs and finally now four eggs.

My office neighborhood boasts a Bruegger's Bagels shop just a short stroll away! Mmm, so good!

Leading achievers

Victoria, Jessica & Philip received the Eagan Rotary Club's March, April and May "Student of the Month" awards at a recent weekly Rotary lunch meeting. Their extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and academic achievement earned them this recognition. Congratulations!

Dinner with the French

Our French friend, Isabelle, and her two daughters are visiting for 2 weeks in the Twin Cities from Paris after having moved back to France over a year ago. Carine & Vincent and their three kids are a new French family from Avignon who have moved to Eagan and they are friends with Isabelle. My wife's parents also joined us for dinner on Tuesday evening.

Barbershop design

Just south of Eagan on Highway 3 in Rosemount, this horse farm's barn with the painted silo caught my attention! See Tricia's other Barn Charm meme participants here.

Eagan Rotarian series #20

Dr. Tom Wilson, retired Eagan High School principal, and his wife, Carol, made a big entrance at the Eagan Rotary Art Gala back in February just before Valentines Day! They recently returned from a trip to Monte Carlo and the Cote d'Azur!

Rusty twins

Toll Brothers, Inc. built a new neighborhood in Eagan called "Steeplechase." To see their website, go here. This huge "Parade of Homes" house of 5,800 square feet at 1430 Wellington Way has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a 3 car garage and loads of executive amenities. It could be yours for just $1.4 million.

Monumental pride

This truck parked at the post office was like a lesson in American symbols: American flag, Jefferson Memorial, Liberty Bell, Bald Eagle, Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore.

Soup for the hungry

Hundreds of people came to select a handmade pottery bowl donated by local artists and make a financial donation to the Eagan food shelf. Several local restaurants served soups and bread in Eagan's second annual "Empty Bowls" event, a food shelf fundraiser started several years ago and carried out in cities across the country.

Deliciousness & discussion

Jerry & Connie opened their beautiful home and provided a table of scrumptious treats and sweets on Wednesday evening. State Representative Doug Wardlow, a second generation Eagan politician, met 14 people from our neighborhood and gave us a legislative update and discussed several challenging political issues.
