Art fair season!

Throngs of people gathered at Central Park over the weekend to enjoy the 27th annual Eagan Art Fair. Potters, photographers, glass designers, woodworkers and more artists displayed and sold their creations. About 83 artists made it a great weekend event!

 At last night's 34th annual Charter Banquet for the Eagan Rotary Club, the framed charter certificate was given from me as the outgoing club president to Erica Hollom the incoming president. It was a fun, wonderful celebration of our club accomplishments in the 2020 - 2021 Rotary year.

These fresh orchids will decorate the tables at tonight's Eagan Rotary Club's Charter Banquet. We'll celebrate in style with dinner and a yearend program at the Lost Spur Golf Club.

Art fair treasures

On Saturday afternoon, I visited the Stone Arch Bridge Festival in Minneapolis. Art and food were for sale among the 190 vendors! Two dinner plates, a small cow painting and a bar of soap came back to Eagan with me. 

Next weekend, the Eagan Art Festival will be held in Central Park next to the Eagan Community Center!

Eagan City Councilman, Mike Sapina, captured this caterpillar inching along in his garden.  It just wants to become a butterfly.... 

$75,000

 

On Wednesday, the Eagan Rotary Club presented a check for almost $75,000 in net proceeds from their 1st annual "Live to Give Walk" fundraiser. Recipient representatives from The Open Door Foodshelf, Eagan YMCA, 360 Communities and the Eagan Rotary Community Foundation posed together. 

Building update

 

This huge, new, apartment building is really coming along now. 

It stands next to the Eagan Outlet Mall. 

The current board

The current Eagan Rotary Club's board of directors posed in front of the Artworks building after a recent board meeting.  The Artworks organization received a substantial "large project" donation from the Eagan Rotary Club with payments spread over a few years.

 These beautiful flowers caught my attention in their yard.  But I don't know them. 

Birthday bash

 

My twin brother, Luther, and I celebrated our milestone birthday last night. Valdir cooked a fantastic, Paella dinner and plenty of wine accompanied the event. Cheers!

Tomorrow, our nation celebrates "Flag Day." My twin brother and I also celebrate our birthday on June 14!

The old, restored fire truck stands gleaming at the Eagan fire station 2. It was fun to see the uniforms, helmets, etc.

Donors gathered on Monday evening at The Open Door food shelf's annual gathering for an update and thanks from board chair Carol and Executive Director Jason. It was over 90 degrees but "cooler" under the tent.

Outstanding students

 

Rotarian Mimi Palen-Clare presented awards to two Eagan High School "students of the month" at our recent Eagan Rotary lunch meeting. Morgan and Ryan have often volunteered and maintained high academic results! Bravo! 

Trash and treasures

 

Some local neighborhoods hold an annual junk day when neighbors can put out all their old junk for free garbage pick-up. Anyone can come by and pick out "treasures" for free.... 

Market Fest started!

 

The weekly Market Fest at the Eagan Community Center grounds started on June 2. Swing over every Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm for Farmers Market produce and more.  Live music coming later in June! 

Her diploma

 

My middle daughter received her Easview High School diploma last night. She'll be off to study music performance in college in September! Congratulations!

Award for Abby

 

It was my pleasure to award Abby with the "Achievement Financial Linguistic Scholarship" today through the Eagan Foundation. She's my eighth annual award recipient. She'll study Arabic and International Studies in Washington D.C. this fall. She graduates from Eagan High School this Saturday.
