Bad news, good news

Although their home off Wilderness Run Road is considered a complete loss after Wednesday evening's fire, the good news is that all family members escaped safely. The fire cause remains under investigation; thanks to a faulty door bell ringing repeatedly in absence of connected smoke detectors, this story had a happy end.

What a terrible loss but, of course, having the family escape avoided a TOTAL tragedy. Smoke alarms are a must but thankfully the doorbell's ring alerted them. I feel so very sorry for them because of what they need to go through now to recover their lives.

A door bell was ringing?? That sounds like a real miracle.

I agree with Dina, that really was a lucky break and a bit miraculous at the same time. What a shame, it looked like it was a beautiful home, still lives are way more important than bricks and mortar. Have a great weekend Leif.

Frightening, even from this distance!
«Louis» is happy everyone escaped, even if he doesn't know the people who lived there!
Whew!

Dramatic situation - with a lucky end, all was saved. Such a story makes associations to some fires in my childhood. The emotional impact those days were big, as it must be for all who experience fires so close as the family did.

Wow. This family was lucky. Buildings and artifacts can be replaced. Lives can't.

I agree. Thank God they got out. From someone who has been in that same situation as a child when our townhome in Eagan went up in flames, I feel for them. Getting back on their feet will be a hard road but they will get there. I don't personally know this family to be able to introduce myself, but I would be more than happy to rebuild their house. They can rebuild on the same lot or leave that lot vacant to hold as an investment and build elsewhere in Eagan.
Take Care.
