I baked "Swedish Kringla" for my family on New Year's Day morning. We watched the Rose Bowl parade on TV while sitting next to the Christmas tree in front of the fire dancing in the fireplace.
Here's the recipe if you'd like to try to bake it: Mix 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup butter until crumbly. Add 1 Tablespoon water and mix/gather together. Form two long strips about 3 inches wide on a cookie sheet. Heat 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter in saucepan just barely to boiling. As you take it from the heat, add flour all at once and stir until a smooth ball. Stir in one egg at a time, (3 eggs total) beating by hand after each addition. Add 1 teaspoon almond extract for flavoring. Spread on the two pastry strips and bake in pre-heated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Frost with sugar icing flavored with almond extract. Sprinkle almond slivers on top. Serve with coffee and enjoy!
I saw here the photo of kringla, interested in the details, and was drown in the web for 2 hours looking at Swedish kitchen recipes.. Will be careful next time)))
Leif, ich sehe, dass du und Anne eine Entscheidung bezüglich den "Wandplatten" getroffen habt. Super! Ich habe mir schon gedacht, dass die bei unserem nächsten Besuch noch nicht an der Wand seien ;-))
