Artsy overload

Mobs of artists and "culture vultures" celebrated Thursday's opening night of "Foot in the Door 4," a wildly popular exhibition held every 10 years at the Minneapolis Institute of arts. We bumped into purple ribbon pinned artists and viewed thousands of art submissions: floor to ceiling overloaded walls of paintings & photographs and tables loaded to overflowing with ceramics, textiles, sculpture & more in 3 galleries! After the stupendous art stampede, many of the artsy, glamourous museum crawlers enjoyed fu-fu libations in the blue glowing lobby. Lucy Michelle & the Velvet Lapelles provided live music and DJ Jake Rudh of Transmission mixed it up with music to top off the evening.

It may be overload, but it certainly is fun. I've had friends who have displayed during this event, and it's fun to see how many unheralded but talented artists there are in the Twin Cities.

Cool! Do people win prizes? From the looks of it, you must have a lot of creative people in Minnesota. Guess you have to find some way to pass the winters! :)

We would have enjoyed this very much; and we still need a few items for the new villa. Why didn't you tell us this was happened? We could have dogsledded up there!

You didn't mention the items you purchased...

I think this would be so much fun. We have ours outdoors in the warm months. It's so much more interesting when you can meet the artists.
