Nate and Jen competed in the men's and women's "Alpha Showdown" competition at Eagan Lifetime on Saturday morning. An exhausting circuit of deadlifts, dumbbell thrusters, burpees and the rowing machines challenged even the fittest among the determined athletes!

Almost 80 fourth graders played their recorders at the yearend concert at Thomas Lake Elementary school. They sounded rather good! Bravo!

College bound...

Nathan Blakely received the Hagen Financial Network Linguistic Scholarship. He's headed to  Brigham Young University in the fall. Congratulations to Nathan and the other 117 award recipients!

An amazing 118 Eagan students received scholarships totaling $100,000 at this year's annual awards breakfast at Eagan High school.  Since 1991, the Eagan Foundation awarded students with just under $1,000,000!

Savoring Suzuki sounds

On Pentecost Sunday, twenty one students from Kotrba Piano Studio performed pieces in a yearend Suzuki piano recital at Easter Lutheran Church.  Composers included: Chopin, Debussy, Bach, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and others. Pardon me for "name dropping"...

Our friend, Isabelle, was visiting from Paris. We enjoyed an outdoor lunch at Doolittle's restaurant on a sunny Friday. 

99 bottles of beer ...

This group and a small army of other Eagan Rotarians picked up garbage along Cliff Road on Saturday morning. Lots of beer bottles, beer cans, water bottles, cigarette butts and various other rubbish littered the roadsides! Rotary slogan, "Service above self."

Phil Stalboerger zips along the road on his BMW bike when he's not working at a law firm in downtown or spending time with his family.  I caught up with him at Lebanon Hills Park.

Thirteen school principals introduced a special teacher from each of their schools at the annual teacher recognition event at the Eagan Rotary lunch meeting. Hip hip hurray for teachers and education!
