Future building...

St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church purchased a lot at 1581 Century Point Avenue for its future building. Their neighbors will be the Scuba Center to the east, Klecatsky Funeral Home to the south and an apartment building to the north. Their church will sit one block north of Yankee Doodle Road and one block west of Coachman Road. Meet their pastor and see their current sanctuary here.

Skal og velkommen til Eagan!

Nothing says "Cheers and welcome to Eagan" like a glass of Linie Aquavit! My St. Olaf College friend, Steven Johnsen, is visiting us from Norway. Last summer, our family stayed with him at his house in Oslo for four days. Gunn of the Stavanger Daily Photo blog and her British husband Steve met us in Oslo for a day! (bottom photo - July 2010 in Oslo) It's a small world after all!

Where are the 2 Eaganites?

Our two younger daughters and I attended the American Suzuki Institute last week in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Over 250 kids came from all over to play their (mostly) violins, cellos, violas, harps, etc. Many kids begin the Suzuki Method from Japan at age 3 or 4 or 5! Sarah led this fun 9 am class each of the 5 days.

Telegram delivery boy

Tony Campobasso, whose parents came from Italy, was born in 1925. He delivered telegrams for Western Union in downtown St. Paul in a khaki uniform in 1941 by bicycle. He serviced fighter planes during WWII and later served his career with the US Postal Service. In 1960, he and his wife built their house in Eagan which had only 500 inhabitants and lots of farms. Daily biking keeps him slim, healthy and smiling!
