My niece, Hope, just turned 16 and passed her driving license test. Hope's Grandma Wanda used to own this car until she bought a new VW Bug. Then Hope's parents bought this 2005 red VW Bug for Hope's birthday. Hope hopes hopefully to be a Spanish teacher someday. See other "Ruby Tuesday" meme participants here.

What a fab car Leif, she's a lucky young lady.
I hope that she is appropriately grateful and careful with the gift of a car. I bought my two sons a new Ford Explorer when my older boy turned 16. It lasted for a little less than two years until my older son totaled it while turning left into his school while thinking that the oncoming car would stop for a light that was turning from yellow to red.
Receiving a phone call and rushing to the school and seeing the under carriage of the car that was knocked over onto its side, and my son was strapped onto a immobilizing board by the paramedics and about to be transported . . . . The images are permanently seared into my brain.
He and his two passengers (his best friend and my younger son) were all wearing seat belts and were fine. No injuries. The replacement car was an old clunker.
One of my dad's friends was talking about selling his convertible VW just yesterday... what a quinky-dink! =)

I am hoping that Hope will be a safe driver, and hopefully, she knows how to pronounce hope in Spanish. Apparently, it is spelled the same in English and Spanish; therefore, thwarting my attempt at being clever in another language.
