Drive by drop-off

You can easily roll down your car window and mail your letters in these blue mailboxes at the Eagan post office on Cliff Road. May 1st is the City Daily Photo blog community's theme day - "Mailboxes."

I was about to say I'd never seen a drive-by mail box before but amazingly there is one in Menton. I don't think it's intentional but it's placed just where cars have to slow down.

I have a shot of a couple of their colorful cousins from the north!
We had a drive through post box like these right at the entrance to I-55 in Jackson. I always found that a bit of an odd place for post boxes!

How I wish I was mailing postcards from one of those right now! I miss the USA!

The inhabitants of Eagan must be hardworking correspondents. It is moreover a good deed to see other mailboxes than yellow and red boxes.

P.S. You've to look in your own mailbox in the next days. Thank you for your lovely comments. I hope I'll find time to visit your fine blog (and the other CDP blogs too). Have a nice week. Greetings from Stuttgart. Dein Deutsch ist wirklich sehr gut!!!

They're everywhere! I hate it when people get impatient and start honking at the people in front of them because they are moving to slow for their liking.

Perfect shot for today. Those good old, all American mailboxes!

I noticed most places around the world use red or yellow for the mailboxes, except in the U.S. where blue is the most often used color. Do you know why?

Friends from England couldn't get over the fact that we could drive up to a mailbox! How convenient.

Yup, these are everywhere. We wouldn't want Americans to get out of their cars and get any exercise, would we?

Americans can mail their letters, do their banking, pick up presecriptions from the drug store, drop off and pick up the dry cleaning, and get lots of food, all without getting out of the car.

Will it get to the point where the only thing you have to get out of your car to do is to fill up your car with gas? And in many other parts of the world, they still have gas station attendants who will fill up your car -- the one thing over there that you do not have to get out of your car to do.

One of the most interesting mail boxes I've seen until now.

Please have you all a good new month and week as well.

Something hawk like about these. Quite like them.

We don't have enough one way streets here. One needs a passenger to roll down the window and drop them in the box. Otherwise the driver has to get out of the car (horrors) to drop them in the box.

Wow. They've really made sure that no one can stick their arm in those things.

Thank you for the exuberant welcome back, Leif! You just made my day. :)

Great set of mailboxes.

I miss those huge blue boxes--It's very American (to me) that they stand on their own legs rather than being mounted to a wall.
