I joined our 1st grade daughter for school lunch on Friday. The menu included: milk, cheese omelet, frosted cinnamon roll, oranges and a wild cherry freezie. She didn't take the tomatoes - neither did I.
That's a lot of food for a first grader. Here in New Zealand, most schools have a lunch order. Most kids bring their own lunch. They sit outside to eat. I see many kids bring too much food.
It looks appetizing, and I hope that it was and you both enjoyed it. Having parents come to visit and be a part of their world is important to kids, and she certainly looks happy to have had you there, too.
You are sooo lucky, enjoy this time because kids grow up so fast!I also had this experience but it was so many time ago.LOL Now my son is 21 years old and daughter almost 17! By the way , I would get the tomatoes for sure, love it! :)) Hugs Léia
Thanks for your nice comment! :) Your daughter is beautiful! And it's a cool thing that kids in American schools get food. Here in Germany this is anything but sure :(
It does take one back....:-) I can't say it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Food looks more appealing on a plate, less industrial. When I was a little girl we were expected to go home for a hot lunch unless we were unfortunate and had to bus to school. Then you had to bring a lunch. My house was a shortcut through three yards away from school. So I usually went home. But when I had to eat at school I thought it was very cool. We had no cafeteria. Then we moved and I had a choice. Take lunch or cafeteria. I took my lunch. hihi It might have been super for a parent to show up, I guess. No parents ever did, back in the old days, ,). But I can see you've made your daughter sparkle...and it's very nice to see this. Hey. I'm not as old as I sound!!! ;-))
So CUTE!! So lucky she still lets you come eat lunch with her. Our soon-to-be sixth grader does not want Mom coming up to the school for fear that I may embarass him! Me?? Tell Svea I like the looks of that cinnamon roll.

She looks so much like you. :)
Food looks good. What do you have against tomatoes?

Agree with Kate. This is a lovely portrait, one that she will cherish (you, too!)
So what's the feeling of going back to 1st grade? :-)
Tomatoes or not, we are sure she'll remember the visit. Nice photo of a truly beautiful subject.
Darryl and Ruth : )
Your children are so cute. Your audience always enjoys the photos you post of your family.
You should have taken the tomatoes - there are plenty of politicians who would have been good targets for them..
Yours truly,

Why does that egg remind me of hospital food? It shouldn't. Your first grade daughter is beautiful. The tomatoes are good for you.

This is great! Here is obviously impossible to eat with kids at school, don't ask me why...
Leif, do you remember the feeling from 1st grade? Your daughter seem to enjoy this time of her life.
She is pretty and the food looks good. I would have taken the tomatoes though and left the roll.
How amazing to see that students get food at their school. May time and life continue to tread her kind.
A wonderful Sunday for you all.
daily athens
we usually have 'cold'lunches and the kids bring their lunch to school too. She looks adorable Leif.
I am running a funny caption competition today. Come see if you want.
This is somehow fascinating. I wouldn't have taken the tomatoes either. Your daughter is quite lovely.
I hope you had good time, it's a great opportunity to share time with our children in their day to day life space.
Very pretty, as are all 3 of your kids. But what's the trouble with tomatoes??? Les pommes d' amour, en old french, love apples.
I know you have done this before. I still think it is great to have lunch together at school. Er det vanlig?
This looks so tasty and healthy. Hope she enjoyed her lunch and of course school :)
Wow, that's a lot of food for a little girl.....
