Betty Vos Hemstad, a St. Olaf
grad and a summer resident of Grand Marais
near the Gunflint Trail
, was selling and signing her book, "Wildflowers of the Boundary Waters - Hiking through the Seasons."
I had a nice visit with her and was very tempted to buy her book.
Order her book:
Oh, c'mon Leif! Give the lovely lady a break! Buy her book and then use it as reference for your photos next spring and summer. Looks like it might be an altogether different book signing that took place in MOA with Palin.
That's cute, because I know someone who LOVES the North Shore, especially Grand Marais and also LOVES wildflowers...
Writers, hiking and flowers, those are the worlds I like best.
Black boots are very much in the fashion here, you are right :-))) I need a new pair. My favorite ones are in Westport.
oh, i love books about flowers, i have some of them in my house, i hope i can always learn about flowers.
Namaskara Lief Hagen-ravare... That must have been very nice.....
pour faire des balades après, voila un livre qui peut être très utile..et puis les auteurs c'est toujours agréable
to ride later, voila a book that can be very useful .. and then the author is always nice
Tempted, you say? But you didn't buy it? Even though it was all about things you know - "wild" and "flora"?
I've been to Grand Marais. Great area. Well, except for the winters. Yikes!
Did you know I'm considered the flower of my family? I think that's true 'cause everyone says I'm a blooming idiot!
It's lovely that you've plugged her book, but I hope you'll come away with a copy of your own before too long.
Tusen takk, Leif for posting...would like everyone to know that there are 120 wildflowers photographed in all their seasons--from bud to seed pod (over 620 photos in color). Really don't want to sound like a commericial, but it is available on Amazon at a discount, at your favorite bookstore, or directly from the Minnesota Historical Society Press www.mhspress.org
Looks like a great book!
I am sure you bought the book. It looks both pretty and interesting, you just did not wanted some friends or family to know, because it is Christmas soon..... :-)
I know plenty of people who like books about flowers, parks and gardens.
I hope she will do well with selling the book!
oooh yes wildflowers here are planted by the side of the highway so they flower in summer and create lots of colour - very pretty!
It must be a lovely book and the photos seem to be great.
That;s the kind of book I'd be tempted to buy too. :-)
That looks like a lovely book! I love wildflowers!
I'd like to read the book!
Tempted??? Come on!!
Sunshine Coast Daily Photo - Australia
It looks like the book is well-designed. «Louis» hopes it sells well for her!
Looks like an interesting book. I tend to buy books like this one when I travel ("The fish of Hawaii" etc) and they always proved useful and a nice read.
I'm sure I'd like it, it looks like a very nice book!
