Ground breaking news!

Mayor Mike Maguire, Eagan city council members and officials from Paragon dug their gold tipped shovels into the ground for a new $100 million outlet mall of 100 stores in a 400,000 square feet space on Tuesday morning. That will bring 2,000 new jobs and countless revenue and visitors to our city!

Cities love to attract retail businesses because of the sales tax revenue, but on a metropolitan-wide basis, they are reshuffling retail jobs around but not adding new jobs. The outlet mall will probably result in empty retail space elsewhere.

Looks like pretty soft soil, Leif. Hope there is more solid ground beneath.
Good luck to the new venture.
