Dream "Mancave"

Tim Watts, President of North Country Woodshop, showed me around their 10,000 square feet space filled with every woodworking machine, worktables, wood holding racks, storage areas and a classroom. Opened in August 2011 at 1170 East Cliff Road, that place is every woodworking person's dream! "It's a health club for woodworkers, table-saws instead of treadmills, lathes in lieu of dumbbells." International taste

Eagan 5th grader, Sky Waters, entered his painting, "Silent Flight," into the 2012 International Aviation Art Contest in Luzern, Switzerland. His water color piece which won 1st place in Minnesota and 3rd place in the US, was already over in Europe for judging so he showed me two of his other works in his home art studio. One of Sky's paintings is displayed in Deadwood, South Dakota at Kevin Costner's "Tantanka - Story of the Bison" interpretive center. Congratulations and good luck in art, Sky!

Eagan Rotarian series #27

Bryan Frandrup, Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer at Venture Bank, recently transferred to the Eagan Rotary Club after serving as club president in another area Rotary club. Bryan joined the team at Venture Bank, a new bank in Eagan in 2006. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead and recently married.

Not move-in ready

This house under construction stands in the newer Stonehaven neighborhood by Lennar Builders off Lexington Avenue in north Eagan. Building lots are still available on some of the last open land in our city. More information here.

Fun & artsy

Hundreds came to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday between 11 am and 7 pm for Eagan's 3rd annual "Empty Bowls" fundraiser for the Eagan Foodshelf. For $20, each person picked his/her own locally handmade ceramic bowl and enjoyed soup served in it! Here's to a great, charitable, community activity!

Fire fightin' businessman

Matt Mozingo, an Eagan volunteer firefighter for 19 years, owns the Eagan branch of Miracle Method, a national bathroom and kitchen refinishing franchise. On March 1, he opened the first showroom in Minnesota at 1301 East Cliff Road just across the Eagan border into Burnsville. Matt served for 4 years in the Marines and then as an airline mechanic for 18 years with Northwest Airlines before beginning his new career as owner of Miracle Method Eagan in 2006. It was Friday, March 16. The weather felt more like May 16. She was studying and drinking a fancy coffee drink along Nicols Road.

Artsy birthday party

Our oldest daughter celebrated her birthday with 5 middle school friends. They painted ceramics at Color Me Mine. Later they ate pizza at our house, watched movies and had a sleepover.

Green bagels...

Happy St. Patrick's Day! What better way to celebrate than with some GREEN bagels from Brueggers Bagels on Cliff Road! May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Benefiting the Seniors

A big wine tasting crowd of Eagan High School parents of senior students and others gathered at Mendakota Country Club to raise money for the 2012 Senior Class Party. A beautiful Thursday evening of silent and live auctions, socializing, tastings and more. Cheers & congratulations to the graduating Seniors!

Sarah's dad, my mother and Gail's dad are siblings. We enjoyed a fun Sunday lunch together at my house with six other family members. Sarah and her boy friend Kurt came from Minneapolis; Gail and husband David drove over from River Falls.

Eagan is lucky to have two capable, bright, charming, handsome (and humble) social media moguls tending to some of their communication and news needs. Leif Hagen tweets and blogs with his Eagan Daily Photo blog while David Henke runs EaganPatch.com, an online newsletter augmented by Twitter, Facebook, etc. Both St. Olaf graduates attended Saturday evening's Black & Gold gala with their dates to support their alma mater!

This young snowman builder happily posed with his snowy friend along Sherwood Way. This winter has provided little snow so Jack was lucky to have enough snow to build a snow fireman.
