Keeping the faith...

Rev. Fr. Marc Boulos leads the St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church at 2020 Silver Bell Road, Suite 5, just off Highway 13. The congregation of currently 30 families started in 2003 and already has a fully-paid-for parcel of land with a completed architectural drawing. They hope and pray to build their own church building in 3 years. As is common for orthodox priests in America, Fr. Boulos works full-time in the private sector as an IT manager, in addition to shepherding his flock. Chanting, singing, incense and gospel preaching anchor their worship; I attended their Saturday evening vespers service. See their website here.

Leif, you are a wonderful historian for your community! It's been a long time since I've been to a service in a Greek Orthodox Church, and I'm thinking that I should probably go again.

I have never been to an Orthodox Church before and this is very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Leif, did you stand all the way through Great Vespers?
I love to hear the Orthodox liturgy. It is strange for me to see the women in your photo not in skirts. Here in Jerusalem they cover up a lot more.
Fr. Boulos and his congregation are doing a good thing. I hope to see your post of their own church building in a few years.

I don't know anything about Greek Orthodox, but I love the priest's dress. Such rich colors and details.

Fascinating that Orthodox priests can have two jobs! He must have tons of energy!

I love the orthodox church with its icons, so beautiful and mysterious. It was hot in WI, how is it up in Eagan? Suzanne in Wooster Square

Thanks for the pics of this Orthodox church in Eagan. I keep intending to visit it and maybe this will motivate me! --from another Eagan blogger, Julie McCarty, Spiritual Drawing Board
