Breaking news!

We've got some badddddd news in Eagan: Defense contractor, Lockheed Martin, is leaving town in 2013. That means the loss of 1,000 jobs, including 700 engineers in a company founded back in 1946. Zut alors!

Well, hello there!

You are just Johnny-on-the-Spot, aren't you? Such a good little CDP blogger!

I wonder if Jacob from Ocala still looks at your blog? I guess his bridge is still on the drawing board...

Sorry to read that. I hope Eagan will be resilient. Good luck.

Oh, that's not good. I hope things turn around before then.

Oh no. I know how devastating something like this can be to a local economy. Happens to various places here every time a large multinational decides to pull out. I hope those 1000 people find replacement jobs soon after Lockheed closes. :(

Very sad. We had a similar report from Northrup-Gruman regarding shipbuilding in Newport News. Pray for better times.

Not good for Eagan - and especially not good for the Lockheed-Martin employees, but «Louis» doesn't have to tell you that...

Perhaps a new political climate in Congress will change this.

Unfortunately this is a very common situation here... Hundreds of companies are closing doors lately, some of them are moving to eastern european countries where they pay less taxes and lower salaries. It's a disaster, that's why unemployment is reaching 11% in this country.
