Lunching ladies

Lunchtime had just begun and these female friends were enjoying the weather, lovely landscaping and the chance to share a leisurely meal at Dolittles Restaurant on Cliff Road. And the Eagan paparazzi had a zoom lens....

Almost tee-ed off

My neighbor, Brenda, and her friend, Kari, showed their teeing off form at "hole 1" while waiting for the previous women to progress down the fairway. Many Eaganites and Parkview Golf Club neighbors are getting "tee-ed off" with the possibility of the course being sold to a residential land developer! This is the only golf course in Eagan....

Bucket brigade

Tony Ripley, Dakota County Young Life director, and over a dozen kids washed and vacuumed cars at Holiday gas station on Saturday afternoon. Their earnings help pay for activity and travel expenses.  Thanks for the car wash!

Got artsy?

The annual Eagan Art Festival took place last Saturday and Sunday.  Culture vultures and art enthusiasts came out in droves to view, admire and buy pottery, wooden objets d'art, photography, jewelry and more! It was all we could do to only buy a metal yard ornament. 

Talent, treats & talking

These four young ladies, Ambassador contestants dressed in self-representative clothes, posed with their own baked goods before individually presenting them to a panel of Eagan July 4th Funfest judges. And the photographer liked sampling the treats, too! Left to right: Elle, Ellie, Cassidy and Megan.

Chief's new wheels

Fire Chief Mike Scott stood with his new vehicle at Fire Station #2. The building was dedicated in June 2011 and houses some of the youngest firefighters. The department roster now includes 102 volunteer firefighters and they always welcome new applicants. August 8 is this station's Ice Cream Social and October 13 is their Fire Prevention Open House! 

Waterlily wonderland

These white, waterlilies seem to thrive on McDonough Lake in Lebanon Hills Regional Park.  Also, a fishing dock stands just steps away from this spot. See other Scenic Sunday meme contributors here.

The Eagan Riviera

It was a hot, humid day at lunch time and Schulz Beach in Lebanon Hills Park was busy!  It's not exactly the same as the French Riviera or the beaches in Barcelona, but....

Uprooted

Tuesday morning's severe thunderstorms and 80 mile hour winds left lots of big, old trees laying down in many places in Eagan.  Luckily, I haven't heard of any fatalities!

Thai is a cool dancer who teaches dance and plays guitar.  He seems to be on the right track!

Biker dudes

This BMC - Hincapie Sportswear development biking team has been staying with host families in our neighborhood and nearby during the Nature Valley Grand Prix professional cycling festival this past week.  From left: team masseur, team mechanic, 6 bikers and team coach.

Ty Magner in the black jersey won the overall junior category of this week's collection of races. He and his older brother were fun guests to welcome into our home. Congratulations, Ty!

A few days ago, the weather drew people to the outdoor umbrella covered sidewalk tables at Caribou Coffee on Cliff Road.  Wanna meet for a mocha and a scone?

All in the family

The Fannin Family singers perform together and competed last year in a nationally televised music competition.  They provided live music for the first weekly Market Fest on the Eagan Community Center grounds. Farmers Market produce vendors, food sellers and children's crafts rounded out the opening night! See you next week Wednesday at 4 pm. 

Flag Day & B-day

It's my birthday and I can eat lots of chocolate, chocolate chip cake if I want to!  My wife baked me a celebratory dessert to celebrate on the eve of my birthday.... Happy Birthday also to my 9 minutes younger twin brother, Luther!

Ukrainian Style

Young dancers from the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble demonstrated traditional folk dances and modeled some brightly colored traditional costumes for the weekly Tuesday morning crowd at Caponi Art Park.  The group has existed for over 60 years and now claims 67 dancers between ages 4 to 22. Cheremosh is a river in Western Ukraine, thus their name.

Daylily season

Nora was admiring the budding daylilies at the Eagan Community Center.  It's that time of year here. 

Man & his best friend

Eleven year Officer Helgerson and his Belgian Malinois police dog, "Badger," demonstrated how they work together to catch the "bad guys" and take a bite out of crime behind the Eagan Community Center for the Eagan Rotary Club after last week's lunch meeting.  "Badger" was selected from 1,400 names submitted by Eagan school children. 

Last steps of Kindergarten

Friday afternoon marked the end of Kindergarten for our youngest daughter and the beginning of summer vacation.  We won't see yellow school buses again until September. 

Hard shelled

This painted turtle surprised us during our dinner when we spotted her slowly moving across our patio.  We think she laid eggs in our backyard flowerbed.  See other Camera Critters meme contributors here.

Beauty at Holland Lake

Natalie C. Davis has reigned this past year as Miss Minnesota, associated with the Miss America Organization.  During the Miss America pageant, she sang opera and campaigned for autism awareness. The Miss America Organization is the world's largest donor of scholarships for women, $45 million annually. A Dassel native who just graduated magna cum laude with a chemistry major from St. Olaf College, she plans to continue her studies in broadcast journalism.  Natalie posed at beautiful Holland Lake in Lebanon Hills Park off Lexington Avenue.  Congratulations, Natalie!

Foxes, rabbits & bears - oh my!

Our youngest daughter played "Momma Bear" along with her Kindergarten classmates in their play performance of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." The school year ends on Friday.

These Class of 2012 seniors jumped for joy after completing their graduation ceremony on Saturday afternoon at Eagan High School! Congratulations and best of luck!

Eagan's "Baywatch"

Cascade Bay waterpark is holding their 12th annual preview opening on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.  The official opening is Friday, June 8.  Eagan doesn't have a bay or an ocean but we do have Cascade Bay! These lifeguards posed before the opening.  A total of 60 lifeguards and 90 other staff run Eagan's huge water attraction.  Come to swim, splash and play! 

Kayaking family time

On a Memorial Day escape from Eagan, I spent several days at my twin brother's Wisconsin cabin with our sister and her husband.  Sometimes a blogger gets a good photo from the back row!
