Ice fishing...

They were out fishing on Holland Lake on a beautiful January weekend afternoon. I wonder how thick the ice is?!

I just learned from my brother that over the holidays in St. Cloud, MN, his son visiting home from med school went ice fishing and caught a fish, and also did an annual polar bear plunge on New Year's Day. Brrrr.

I always wonder at the stability of the ice, and hope that the fisherman know what they're doing. It must be a compelling pastime since so many people do it!

I always heard that ice fishing is just an excuse for guys to hang around together without the women, and drinking beer. Is that how it works out there?

It would have to be plenty thIck before I would venture out there! They have been complaining just north of here because the ice isn't very thick at all and they can't get the ice huts out as they usually do.

eek. I don't think I could do this. Maybe on tippy toe?

Always wanted to try this.

I haven't been to "my" lake for a while, usually there will be a lot of ice fishing there during cold winters. Never seen a tent there, these guys are pros!
