Almost 1 o'clock

Just three restaurant options dominate the Eagan Promenade shopping area. I prefer Houlihan's and Jake's for lunch but both "BWs" and Jake's have outdoor dining patios. It was summer....

Decapitated

This old barn stands hauntingly off Pilot Knob road just north of Dodd Blvd and south of Eagan.

Kitchen cooks

Grandpa Ozz and Grandma Lois prepared a Thanksgiving feast for us. The menu included: turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, marshmallow topped squash, cranberry salad, green bean casserole, stuffing, lingonberry sauce, frosted bread and white wine. Pumpkin pie with real whipped cream topped off our Thanksgiving dinner together.

Pottery panache

The 6th annual pottery sale took place at the Eagan Art House, home to pottery and other art classes. Ten artists/teachers sold their precious pottery pieces from 10 - 5 pm on Saturday. I'm glad we arrived at 9:45 am even if it meant a "checkbook accident."

Ring Road really ready!

On a crisp, sunny, November 15th morning, the opening of the new bridge over Highway 35E began at 8:15 with coffee, doughnuts and fun! Left to right posing on the new Duckwood Drive Overpass bridge: City Administrator Tom Hedges, City Councilman Gary Hansen, Chili, Senator Ted Daley and Parks director Julie Sewell Johnson. See the bridge construction here.

Local mascots joined in the fun: Rasmy Moose from Rasmussen College, Chili from Chili's Restaurant and Tireman from Tires Plus. Relay races were run, a shattered champagne bottle christened the bridge and merriment was made by many local politicians, bridge workers, Eagan citizens and city employees.

City of Eagan truck - 1st automobile to cross over bridge!

The Hagen Wagon crossed the bridge with the first 20 cars!

Three veterans spoke and received recognition at this past Wednesday's weekly Eagan Rotary lunch meeting. From left: Gordon Jonson sailed with the Coast Guard in Asia in WWII from 1942 - 1946; John Kriesel served in Kosovo and Iraq from 1999 - 2007; Tim Callister flew helicopters in Vietnam from 1968 - 1971. Friday was "Veterans Day" in the USA. Photo by guest photographer and aspiring City Daily Photo blogger Michael Proebstle.

Hunting hazard

Ranger Mark works as a Dakota County Sheriff and stopped long enough for me to take his photo at Lebanon Hills Park by the Park Closed sign. Do they allow bow & arrow hunting where you live?

Election Day

November 8 was a national day for elections in the United States. In Eagan, we only voted on members for our local school board. My wife and I voted in the Red Pine Elementary School gymnasium. How do elections work where you live?

Fire engine red

Have you ever ridden in a fire truck? This red beauty was displayed at a recent open house. I just wish Fire Chief Scott would invite me on a "ride along" in a fire truck sometime! See other Ruby Tuesday participants here.

Land's End or L.L. Bean?

Our friend, Erica, was raking leaves in her side yard when I drove past. So, with camera in hand, I walked over later for a photo of the famous outdoor clothing model!

A vampire and a witch posed for me by a red fence at Caponi Art Park during the Saturday afternoon Halloween party. November's City Daily Photo blog theme day is "fences."
