A victim of Netflix?

First, they rented and sold videos. Then, they rented and sold DVDs. And now this Blockbuster Video store near Byerly's is going out of business.....

A victim of bad management more likely...

Developments in technology put them in business and put them out of business.

Blockbuster must be closing all their stores. There are two near Chez la Vache that are closing/closed. They stayed wedded to their original business model and didn't adapt to changing technology.

We lost all of ours years ago. I loved that store too. Acutally I choose not to participate in theme day. Sometimes I see the choice and I am just not inspired so I thought I would just continue on my hike. Stay warm!

It is tough being in a business when disruptive technology slashes through it. I don't think Blockbuster saw it coming.

The Blockbuster near me closed a long time ago and now it's a beauty supply store.

Alles Gute euch.

hate to see businesses fail, but it's pretty hard to compete in this market.

I think they're still around in some places, but sorry to see it go...I loved to browse there...and check out a dvd from time to time when in US.

We have a Blockbuster here, but it is not doing very well now.

I think it's a tendence, but I prefer real shops, real life than a virtual shops, virtual life.

well, so sad times are changing.
when you can just easily download movies and tv series in just one click, why rent a video and all that hassle? ^0^

Blockbuster did see the problem but were helpless. Viacom saw it, that is why they sold it. Viacom held it for longer than reasonable for the cash flow. They then spun it off and saddled it with $10+ billion in Viacom corporate debt. Blockbuster had the Netflix and streaming model ON PAPER before their rivals. Just all that debt would never allow them the cash flow to feed such an initiative. They were always at the mercy of their creditors.
