Dazzling Daytons

For many years, a main department store in Minnesota was known as Daytons. Then it was called Marshall Fields and finally Macy's became the new name! Take a swing over to the Mall of America for dazzling holiday options at Macy's!

And the malls all seem to have dazzling decorations, too. Would you believe we have never gone to MOA..vowed we wouldn't and haven't succumbed yet!

Trivia time!
In Detroit, there was the Hudson Department store(s). Hudson merged with Dayton to form Dayton-Hudson, which begat Target. Dayton-Hudson bought Marshall Field's. When Dayton-Hudson decided to concentrate on Target, they sold off the department store units to the conglomeration that bought Macy's and decided to consolidate all their brands into the Macy's name... (but you probably already knew that...)

What you may not know is that in Detroit, it was the Hudson Department Store family that started Hudson automobiles. And Marshall Field's daughter married Admiral David Beatty of the Royal Navy. Beatty and Winston Churchill became acquainted in Egypt during General Kitchener's campaign against the muslims in revenge for their murder of General Gordon. Beatty later served as Churchill's secretary when Churchill was appointed to the Admiralty and Beatty was second in command to Admiral Jellicoe in the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
