"Champagne" preview

Cellars wine shop was sampling three New Year's Eve "champagne" options. Did you know that only "champagne" produced in the Champagne region of France can be called "champagne?" All others are called "sparkling wine." Cellars carries 25 varieties of champagne or sparkling wine bottles ranging from $5.99 to $200. Their options come from France, Italy, Spain and California.
Cheers! Happy New Year - 2011!

Que hagas un buen brindis por el nuevo año 2011 para que te de mucha suerte.
En Barcelona el champange se llama "cava" (cueva)y una botella cuesta a partir de 2 euros.
Un abrazo

I know champagne is from Champagne. You can call the sparkling wines "skum" in danish and maybe "Sprudelwasser" at german (Sekt is better).
Cheers - and all the best for 2011, Leif and your family!
Greetings from Roskilde.

Highway Patrol Officer to Leif: Sir, your eyes are more than a little bloodshot. How much have you had to drink tonight?

Leif to Patrolman: Well, ocifer (hic) your eyez are a little glashzed over (hic). How many tripz haz you (hic) made through th' drive through at Krispy Kreme donuts (hic) so far thiz shhhift?

(Sound of handcuffs clinking shut...)

New Zealand option: Lindauer's special summer treat of citrusy bubbly made from Pinot Gris - though it doesn't even appear on their website. Available NZ$8.99 on lucky weeks from the supermarket. Perfect for a blindingly sunny, scorching afternoons at the beach.

Sorry, Leif. And a very Happy New Year.

Interesting, 'cause I most often hear people talk about champagne rather than 'sparkling wine'. Happy 2011 to you all
