World premiere of "Chopin Tribute"

The James Sewell Ballet presented its world premiere of "Chopin Tribute" at the quite new 1,000 seat Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Polish born Tadeusz Majewski played Chopin's music to celebrate the composer's 200th birthday while the ballet dancers beautifully performed a masterfully choreographed series. The modern ballet was sprinkled with humor which evoked occasional laughs from our family and the audience.
Bravo! Encore!

Chopin was all over Warsaw when I was there...new museum, too, but you have to wait for two months to get tickets for any concert there!

I took some photos of the ballet dancers but my "blog consultant" rejected their photo quality! However, I don't always listen to my wife...

I love the building. It looks very modern with all the steel and glass. And the colorful lights top it off!

Sounds like a fabulous night! Handsome shot of the piano and the building is fantastic!

The building looks like one I'd like to visit. How does it compare with the Ordway? We go to the Friday morning "gray hairs" concerts, and love the building, but I'd like to visit Eagen's, too. Saw Chopin's gravesite in Paris.

I'm up for sweets and coffee any day now that we're back and settled in.

I like classical music too, and Chopin`s music is beautiful!

Lucky you!
And it is also the 200th celebration of Schumann. What a time to be alive and hear Chopin and Schumann, Schubert and Liszt.
Kalamazoo will be hosting the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival in just two weeks and for two weeks. It is total immersion and wonderful! Check it out: http://www.gilmorekeyboardfestival.org/

Heard about Majewski, he's supposed to be real good. Lucky guys, you! Hope the music warmed you up!

It is ironic that this concert of the music of one of Poland's favorite sons was the same weekend Poland lost so many leaders in that crash in Russia, the irony further compounded by the fact that those leaders were en route to the Katyn Memorial.

Juet today, again, I passed by where Chopin used to live when he was with George Sand. A special thought for him, for Poland!

I have to confess that the piano is my favorite musical instrument.
