The Story of Moses from Nairobi

Two years ago, barefoot and grimy but smiling, Moses ran up to Dr. Sandra Schley, a member of the Edina Rotary Club and current Rotary District 5950 Governor, as she toured the Mathare Valley in Kenya, a slum of more than 500,000 people. She took his picture and didn't forget him. Sandy returned a year later on a Rotary clean water and sanitation project and found Moses again.
Two weeks ago, Moses arrived in Minnesota escorted by Edina Rotarian Tim Murphy for corrective eye surgery and dental work provided thanks to Rotary International and several Rotarians. Dr. Angela Wandera, a pediatric dentist and Rotarian originally from Nairobi, donated his dental work. Moses stayed at Sandy's house with her and her husband, Duane.
Last Tuesday, a reporter from the Edina Magazine came to our house in Eagan to interview Sandy while we played with Moses before dinner together. He's a lively, energetic kid who loved to play and swing on our backyard playset and explore our toys inside the house. He returned to Kenya with our Rotary District Group Study Exchange team on Friday, April 2nd.
The second photo shows Moses back in Kenya with his mother at an Easter worship service holding a Bible. All the best, Moses!

Very nice story. Hope all goes well with Moses. Re your comment on Ocala DP - we had a 1950 Plymouth coupe, dark green, with wood grain interior when we got married. Traded that for a 1955 Chevy Bel Air.

Rotary Clubs do great humanitarian work. Terrific to have your girls involved, even it it's just a play date.
