Earth hour 2010

At 8:30 PM * on Saturday night * 27 March 2010, we turned off all our lights, our computer, tv and stereo. Our family ate a late dinner by candlelight to observe the global "Earth hour 2010."

About Earth hour: On Earth Hour, hundreds of millions of people around the world will come together to call for action on climate change by doing something quite simple—turning off their lights for one hour. The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations.

Yes we turned off our lights too, but not the TV. We sat there in the dark, hoping for something half decent to watch.

Glad you joined in! Quite a few in our street did, and it was nice to see. Last year, we were the only ones with a dark house!

I'm hoping now that the Earth Hour organizers would move on to the next phase, beyond the annual event and all this PR.

I hope they have a next phase!

I have never heard of this before. I would have participated, but not sure my husband would have agreed! In any case, we were not home at that time so our lights and such were definitely out.

Great photo. It looks like a painting by one of my favorite painters, Georges de La Tour.

Nice shot. I think it's especially important to teach the younger generation about climate change and hopefully they'll do more to combat climate change than we're doing now.

Candlelit pictures are so soft and romantic.
We should turn off the lights more often.
