Low voter turnout

November 3, Election Day, saw a small number of voters. Stopping at a local school, I was told by a voting judge said that only 45 people had voted there by noon. The judge permitted me to take this photo since no one was using the voter stands at that moment.

Voter apathy appears to be the current trend in Canada too.

Do you think H1N1 had anything to do do with eh low turn out?

Sad to see that people are not participating more, especially in local elections as they have a bigger impact on people than national elections.

That is a shame!

Sad thing but actually, I'm not surprised. It's everywhere the same. Under economic circumstances such as these people have lost faith in politics.

the voting booths look different from what i used to know. it's a shame tho that people don't use their rights to vote. they should probably remember that there are those people out there who are still fighting for that right to have their voices heard.

Secure online voting will fix it.

This must be quite a UNIQUE photo, since not many people have taken photos of the same thing. Well done, Leif !:-)

Interesting set up, makes for a interesting photograph! Shame that it is empty, but perhaps this is what makes it so striking...

I totally agree with Gunn, this is a picture you normally see in newspapers. Happy 6monthaversary, by the way!

It's sad that so few people bother to vote - that picture really tells the story.

btw - if you want another "thank you" for your comments section, you can add "Asante Sana" - "thank you very much" in Swahili.

What a nice reminder that it depends upon ones own voice whether change will come or not.

A wonderful Friday for you.

Maybe lots of people voted by mail?
Apathy is a terrible thing...

An exclusive shot, I have to use this idea next time we're voting here. If they let me...

Such nice booths, that's too bad!

I can only agree with what the others said; so disheartening to see such apathy.

Who knows, maybe many people voted by mail (I know I did in the last elections). Or people don't believe in the democratic process anymore, which is rather sad.

It looks like our voting stations. Turnout is pathetic.

We alaways seem to have low turn out, locally and nationally. Sign of the disillusionment (is that even a word?!) in politics.

That cannot be good. And only a year after the huge turnout for Obama…
