Ticket to Brasil

A Minneapolis/St. Paul based Brazilian jazz group entertained us on July 26, a beautiful Sunday evening at Caponi Art Park's "Theater in the Woods" amphitheater. The group, "Ticket to Brasil," is a Bossa Nova, Samba and Brazilian Jazz ensemble.

Surrounded by green forest, many people and a few dogs listened to the music on blankets, folding chairs or camping chairs.

Bluegrass music & cooking demo

Another weekly "Eagan Market Fest Wednesday" invited people again to the Eagan Community Center on July 22.
A Kowalski's Market chef prepared and grilled a steak with fresh vegetables which was sampled by the crowd.

Then the "Blue Drifters" bluegrass quartet entertained us on their string bass, guitar, banjo and fiddle!

Meanwhile, the nearby Farmers Market was still offering fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, maple syrup, flower bouquets and other assorted goods!

Need groceries?

If you need fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, cereals, pasta and many other grocery items, simply logon to the internet. This is the neighborhood COBORNS delivery guy who brings orders through our area on assigned days. It's actually not much more expensive than driving to the store and hauling it home yourself. (Sorry, I don't think they will deliver to Liechtenstein!)

The 566th Air Force Concert Band

A large crowd enjoyed the Friday evening "America The Beautiful Concert" featuring a 40- piece member Air Force Concert Band. Selections included many Americana songs, pieces from the musicals "Wicked" and "Les Miserables" and the American National Anthem. One of the tuba players sang a few wonderful solos with his band. People carried in their lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the grassy area surrounding the bandshell.

The Eagan Rotary Band Shell was given several years ago almost entirely as a gift from the Eagan Rotary Club to the city of Eagan.

I is for Ice Cream!

The "Ring Mountain Creamery Cafe" was established in August 2007 by the Ringberg Family. They offer 24 out of 48 ice cream flavors in one glass case and 24 out of 35 Gelato (Italian ice cream) in another glass case! The ice cream is all handmade on location; some of the most delicious, super-premium ice cream is all of EAGAN! They also offer coffee and other food but I'm in love with their ice cream! Hurry over to their store at 1965 Cliff Lake Road! I had to get there early in the morning to beat the crowds for this photo!

Market in Cannobio on Lake Maggiore

My penpal, Monica, and her husband, Peter, and I drove to Cannobio, Italy, a beautiful town along the "Lago Maggiore" (Lake Maggiore). The drive took us just 2.5 hours south of Liechtenstein. The weekly Sunday market offers leather goods, jewelry, and many other things. We enjoyed a delicious lunch together and an interesting Obama discussion with our waiter, Giovanni!

My last Europa vacation posting.

Happy 4th of July!

On Saturday, July 4, the Eagan funfest parade snaked through two main roads. Marching bands played American songs, Miss Eagan and other "princesses" rode on convertibles, fire trucks and police cars flashed their lights and blew their horns, and many other parade participants joined the parade. Happy Independence Day, America!

Fürstentum Liechtenstein

The Principality of Liechtenstein is located between Switzerland and Austria, an independent country since 1806. Prinz Hans Adam II rules this small country of 35,000 inhabitants and lives in the castle of Vaduz, the country's capital.

The Rhein River runs north along Liechtenstein's western border. I enjoyed several days again visiting Monica, my penpal of 27 years, and her family in Ruggell, the northern most town in Liechtenstein.

The cows on the mountains DO wear bells!

Triesenberg is one of eleven municipalities in Liechtenstein. The cemetary at this church is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen!

Es wäre toll wenn jemand in Liechtenstein auch mit "City daily photo" täglich ein Foto zeigen würde! Schau auf www.citydailyphoto.com
